This is a charming earthenware Gaudy Welsh jug or creamer imported from England. This folksy, unpretentious pottery was originally made in England and Wales between 1820 and 1860 for working class families and was not made to be perfect. It was thick and coarse, full of pitting and woefully out of shape.
Today it is highly collectible and this charming, rustic jug is a fine example. It displays hand painted decoration in cobalt blue and burnt orange, on an off white background.
The jug measures 10cm in height and 17cm across the top from tip of the spout to the end of the handle.
